Acting General Secretary and Maritime Programs Specialist

Laurencia Luziba is the acting General Secretary of the Center for Maritime Safety and Security in Tanzania who is currently renowned as Maritime Program Specialist with the aspiration to formulating a special programs to persuade the youth in Tanzania to learn how to volunteer and dedicate part of their time to supporting maritime safety, security, and education through marathon events, youth clubs, training, beach games, seminars, and coastal camps.

Ever since she evolve into Maritime Programs at Center for Maritime Safety and Security in Tanzania, she has initiated a joint venture with David Mulokozi (Founder and Executive Director) to enroll and inaugurate a link for connecting youth from national and regional maritime institute in Africa to explore and expand their expertism,  skills, experience and career in the field of seamanship, navigation, and maritime communications. She believe the upcoming program of  Youth Maritime Volunteer Service (YMVS) may offer training, skills and experience to promote work opportunities within maritime environment.

Laurencia has been affiliate with David to establishing a unique programs within Center for Maritime Safety and Security in Tanzania to be operated national-wide for the aim of stimulates youth volunteerism which is crucial for driving socio-economical change, fostering personal development, and building stronger communities. Their programs empower young people with essential skills such as leadership, teamwork, and problem solving while enhancing career prospects, improving mental well-being, and cultivating civic responsibility, ultimately bridging the gap between maritime education and real-world impact.

As Maritime Program Specialist, Laurencia compelled Center for Maritime Safety and Security in Tanzania to further volunteering programs which  provide  numerous platform for youth to be competitive by gaining experience, build networks, and make a tangible difference in their maritime communities. At the behest for CMSS management, For the time being, she wields to influence and motivating youth who are consented to join and registered in YMVS program in order to gain critical domain of their career, transferable skills like communication, time management, and adaptability that enhance future employability.

Aside from the aforementioned, Laurencia with assistance of David, they runs and coordinates   support and involvement of many Tanzanian youth volunteer activities and projects which often leads to better academic performance and provides relevant, real-world experience that makes young people more attractive to employers and universities. Those projects allow youth to engage with diverse groups, fostering empathy and understanding while countering negative stereotypes about young people.

Through her engagement in youth programs, CMSS play significant roles as a core component with constant monitoring, and in depth, evaluative scrutiny to strengthen social bonds, and foster connections with maritime mentors to help national and regional youths to boosting their feeling of inclusion with essential area of knowledge and operational responsibility that’s vital for their success, and strategic advantage to cadet, junior officers, and shore-based staff.
